Lumineers
Lumineers are wafer-thin ceramic plates that are permanently fixed to the teeth with a special adhesive. Originally, they come from the US but are used internationally. The new technology of the Lumineers enables an even surface without pain. Because they are as transparent and wafer-thin as contact lenses, they look like natural teeth. Still, the underlying tooth must not be too discolored or should be bleached before the Lumineers are attached (the Lumineers cover the tooth so that no traces are visible).
As with veneers, Lumineers have a very long life and can last up to 10 years. Good oral hygiene and the use of a whitening toothpaste support the longevity of Lumineers. You are welcome to talk to the doctors in Izmir about which method would be best for you.
What is the difference between Lumineers and Veneers?
• When treating with veneers, approx. 0.8 to 2 mm of tooth substance must be ground.
• Tooth restoration with wafer-thin, contact-lens-like Lumineers enables cosmetic tooth optimization without grinding the teeth.
• When using Lumineers, the teeth must be very white by nature or must be bleached before use, as the Lumineers are very permeable due to their thinness, and discolorations of the own teeth would thus be visible.
